2007 Chris Ringland Shiraz, Barossa Valley, Australia, imported by The Grateful Palate, 15.5% alcohol, $20.00, tasted 12/3/09, provided by Terry Bryant. A fantastic nose of mint, cedar, dark berries, and tar. Lush fruit and an excellent finish with decent complexity and a medium-plus length, though with a little heat. Drinking VERY nicely now; although it should not be laid away for the long term because the fruit will diminish while the heat becomes even more noticeable. (Distributed by CJ with Bryant) Raymond Rating = 92 points
2006 Chateau Saint Martin de la Garrigue “Bronzinelle” Red Wine, Coteaux du Languedoc, France, imported by Kermit Lynch, 13.5% alcohol, $14.00 (special price), tasted 12/3/09. A pretty nose of dried herbs, spices, persimmon, and dark berries. Good fruit and some complexity with a medium-plus length, though dominated by rather firm tannins. Classically structured, it should improve with a few years of bottle age. Raymond Rating = 89 points
