Although Chardonnay can be a good match with a turkey's white meat, it can't stand up to the dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, etc. A better choice would be a Gewurztraminer, Riesling, or Chenin Blanc. I personally prefer the white in an off-dry (just slightly sweet) style.
My favorite Thanksgiving red is a cru Beaujolais or Beaujolais Villages. Another good match would be a fruit-forward Pinot Noir. There are other good choices, just choose one with good fruit and low tannins.
Of course, you can't go wrong with a Champagne or other sparkling wine!
Let me know if you have a match that works particularly well for you.
