2004 BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza, Argentina, produced by owner Pedro Marchevsky, the husband of Susana Balbo (see my review of the 2004 Susana Balbo Cabernet Sauvignon in a 12/23/08 blog entry), 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, spent 10 months in 50% new French oak and 50% 2nd year American oak, $22.50 at Twisted Cork, tasted 2/09/2009.
The very nice nose of cigar box and herbal (dried parsley) aromas with earthy and black cherry highlights continued to open with air. It is well-structured with velvety tannins providing a proper backbone. There is good fruit, complexity, and a long finish. Though drinking nicely now, it will continue to hold together for a few years. The Raymond Rating = 91 points.
