2004 A to Z “Night & Day” Red Wine, Oregon, mainly Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Dolcetto, Petit Verdot, Nebbiolo, and Tempranillo, $24.75, tasted 3/10/2009. Garnet red color. Black cherry and licorice with some bell pepper notes on the nose which opened with air to show some interesting cigar-box and other aromas. Good fruit, acidity, and balance. The tannins are not harsh, yet provide the backbone and structure indicating that, although drinking very nicely now, the wine could last several more years. There is good complexity and a medium-long finish. A very tasty wine that would match well with beef, lamb, or grilled meats. The Raymond Rating = 90 points.
